We are an organisation dedicated to supporting women who have or are experiencing abuse. We focus on each individual woman and work to empower and enable her to break free and rebuild her life.
As well as trauma focused and therapeutically driven work with individuals, the team at The Unchained Phoenix are passionate campaigners and we hope to see a safer world for women, more justice for survivors and greater respect and understanding for women who are brave enough to speak up and reach out for help.
We are launching a campaign to help raise awareness around how subtle and insidious abuse can be and how hard it is to explain to people and even harder to live through day after day.
All our programmes are forged from the understanding that survivors of abuse have suffered trauma and in order to recover from this we use our 3 pillar system to support their recovery.
I'm Kam Laing -
(founder, therapist & fellow survivor of domestic abuse).
I spent too many years stuck and when I finally broke free I was determined that other women shouldn't suffer the insanity and indignity of abuse. I trained as a therapist to help women recover, focusing my attention on the impact of trauma during abuse and how it can determine the speed and quality of a survivor's recovery. I developed programmes based on neuroscience and trauma research that aim to support women through the challenges of Re-Learning, Repairing & Reclaiming their lives after abuse.
At The Unchained Phoenix we believe that ANYONE who has been through narcissistic abuse, coercive control or physical assault from a family member or partner should be able to access adequate emotional, practical & therapeutic support.
Freedom from abuse, & recovery from the damage it does, IS POSSIBLE!
Our #1 aim is that survivors never feel alone in the process of breaking free. Easy access to the right information about how to escape from an abusive situation safely is vital. As is emotional understanding, therapeutic support & the practical guidance in order for women to feel able to physically and psychologically break away from an abuser and re-establish a full independent life after abuse.
The team at The Unchained Phoenix will support a survivor for as long as they need. We will be with you all the way through the process.
